Relationships between friends and rivals have always been a hot topic in the world of stardom. Fans frequently wonder what goes on behind the scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) because of the on-screen chemistry between the actors.

For example, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie, who played Bucky and Falcon, respectively, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, are good friends in real life. Teaming up against Tom Holland, who played Spider-Man, is a common experience that binds the two co-stars together. It is a friendly dispute that began back in 2016 and has since taken on various shapes.

Despite their playful arguments and ironic remarks, Mackie and Holland have made it clear that they are actually good friends. The Wolf Hall actor once insisted during an interview:

“No, Mackie and I are really good friends. I would argue that Mackie and I are maybe the, like he’s maybe who I’m closest to in the Avengers when everyone is on set.”

Meanwhile, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star also said something similar several times, including in a Wired interview when asked:

“Does Anthony Mackie like Tom Holland?”

Mackie was quick to reply:

“You know what? I actually do. Tom Holland is my friend. That’s why I make fun of him. I love the kid. He’s a great, great kid. He’s the best Spider-Man we’ve had — but he’s an arrogant little  s**thead.”

Even though Anthony Mackie has been the target of many of Tom Holland’s jokes over the years, the latter also has taken a dig at his Captain America: Civil War co-star.

Mackie claimed in an interview at Comic-Con in 2018 that he had never seen Holland’s film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, to which Holland slyly retorted:

“I haven’t seen the Falcon one — oh no wait, there isn’t one! I’m sorry.”

The clever retort captivated the audience, and even the 8 Mile star, who was laughing, was astounded by Holland’s astute reasoning as he said:

“Well-played.”

Well, Anthony Mackie’s much-awaited upcoming film, Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled to release on July 26, 2024. Meanwhile, Holland is also expanding his list of shows with The Crowded Room, an Apple TV+ program.
