Fans of Star Wars absolutely love the camaraderie and partnership between the droids C-3PO and R2-D2. The droids made their first appearance in Star Wars: A New Hope and have been in every film of the nearly fifty-year franchise. Actors Anthony Daniels and Kenny Bakers, who play the droids have made a career out of playing the bickering droids.
However, while the two characters have an unmatchable chemistry on-screen, Daniels and Bakers famously could not stand each other off-screen. In fact, Daniels went as far as saying that Baker only received an honorary credit on 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Anthony Daniels And Kenny Baker Could Not Stand Each Other
The droid duo C-3PO and R2-D2 have been adored by Star Wars fans all over. The constant bickering, yet close friends stuck to each other throughout the Star Wars films, being the only two characters to appear in all nine films.
The two actors finally had a reunion in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, neither of them was happy due to the long-standing feud between the actors. Contrasting their on-screen relationship, Baker and Daniels had a bitter rivalry that turned ugly when the former repeatedly started calling out Daniels in every interview.
Late actor Kenny Baker has called out Anthony Daniels on his apparent rude behavior on the sets of the original Star Wars multiple times. He reportedly claimed to not attend a Star Wars reunion event if Daniels were to also make an appearance. Baker has also accused of Daniels being rude to him and looking down on him. Talking in an interview with Metro about appearing in fan conventions as the droid duo, Baker said that Daniels rejected the offer and insulted him,
“I thought it was just me he didn’t get on with but recently I’ve found out he doesn’t get on with anyone. He’s been such an awkward person over the years…I’ve asked him four times now but, the last time, he looked down his nose at me like I was a piece of sh*t. He said: ‘I don’t do many of these conventions – go away little man.’ He really degraded me and made me feel small – for want of a better expression.”
While Baker later did double down on his statements, he still reportedly had some resentment towards the C-3PO actor.

Anthony Daniels’ Response To Kenny Baker
Despite the repeated calling out, actor Anthony Daniels had never retaliated against these allegations by Kenny Baker. However, the British actor opened up in 2015 after returning to the franchise with JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Daniels revealed in the interview with the Mirror that Baker was never on set for the sequel and that he was only a consultant. He said,
“He’s not actually on the set. I haven’t seen him for years. His name is on the credits as a sort of… I don’t know, a good luck charm, a courtesy. He’s a talisman.”
The actor also reportedly said that he never saw Baker in the costume during shooting and called him a ‘bucket’. Daniels finally addressed the allegations that Baker had been throwing against him. He said,
“He’s been saying unpleasant things about me. I just don’t comment.”
Actor Kenny Baker passed away in 2016 and his role was finally passed on to Jimmy Vee in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Anthony Daniels shared a condolence message and mentioned that the fans would miss the actor.
