Tom Cruise made the record for the longest breath-hold on the screen for his 2015 film Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. He held the record for seven years before the Oscar winner Kate Winslet broke it by one minute and 14 seconds while filming James Cameron’s 2022 film Avatar: The Way of Water.

The topic has been highly discussed since the film’s release, and the actress believes that the Jack Reacher star must be “getting very fed up of hearing this story.” During an interview with USA Today, she opened up about training for the movie and how she ended up breaking the record.

James Cameron has shared that he got the “world’s best breath-hold specialists” to work with the cast and help them prepare for their roles.
