The 90s were a golden time for kids, with programs like Superman: The Animated Series, Batman: The Animated Series, and The New Batman Adventures gracing the screens. There was something about its animation style that people couldn’t move on from and still yearn for it to this day. And thanks to that same animation style, creators could play around with the characters.
In a three-part story arc, World’s Finest, people back in the day saw one of the most mindblowing things happen, the two superheroes, Superman and Batman, come together. And now, years later, Superman’s voice actor, Tim Daly is revealing his work experience with Kevin Conroy.
How Was Tim Daly’s Experience Working with Kevin Conroy?
Superman and Batman have always been fan-favorite cartoons, enjoyed by both kids and now adults. With their expansion into the live-action world, the characters have again gained new lives through the plethora of actors who had the opportunity to don the capes.
However, the animated versions still remain among the best, providing warmth and comfort to many even after almost 25 years. In a recent conversation about the cartoon shows, the voice of Superman, Tim Daly, revealed what it was like working with Kevin Conroy‘s Batman.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, when asked if Conroy and he ever shared a booth while recording lines, the voice actor revealed,
“Yes, we did, and it was really fun. And I sort of loved that Superman, in a very dry way, kind of gave Batman a lot of sh-t. It was really funny to me. It was like, ‘Dude, lighten up.’ I can’t remember the line exactly, but he busted Batman on that very thing, his darkness and demeanor about everything. Batman, as interesting as he is, he’s kind of a bummer. He’s so tortured. I loved those moments where Superman goaded him a bit.”
Although initially at odds, these two iconic characters gradually developed a deep bond and thereafter became one of the strongest duos in the history of the superhero world. This appearance especially started something that the viewers are grateful for even to this day. Where they would not only make cameo appearances in each other’s stories but also team up on-screen, and that is something people can never be tired of.
Times Superman and Batman Teamed Up Together
It is no doubt that Superman and Batman’s personalities complement each other perfectly, creating an unbeatable team. Fans adored their collaboration so much that it became a frequent occurrence and a much-loved tradition you just can’t miss! Batman following that appearance showed up in episodes of Superman: The Animated Series like Knight Time and The Demon Reborn.
While Superman didn’t pop up in The New Batman Adventures, his older self, voiced by Christopher McDonald, made an appearance in the Batman Beyond two-parter The Call.
In live-action, Superman and Batman have joined forces in several memorable instances. A standout example is the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, featuring Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman.
Their epic clash captured the attention of audiences worldwide. But what will be forever iconic, is their team-up stories in comics, but that is a discussion for a whole other time. These collaborations between Superman and Batman have only further strengthened their legendary status as beloved superhero besties in the hearts of fans.
