But when he had to audition in front of John Grisham, the author of the story, he brought his A-game to the table, which not only impressed the executives but also the Bird Box star. In an interview from the past, when asked what she felt about sharing the screen alongside him, Bullock said:

“I said, ‘If it’s a strong, honest actor, it’s my privilege to be opposite him,’ He’s a character actor in a leading-man’s body, and he’s going to change the face of what we demand from male actors, we’ll demand for them to push themselves more. He’s not just another beautiful face.”

Therefore, when they did their best for their respective roles in the film, and the end result was absolutely amazing, a statement even the audiences agreed with after watching the movie.
