Chris Evans is one of the few people credited for uplifting the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From playing the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four duology to adorning the shield of Captain America, playing a superhero comes almost naturally to him. Despite the fame and fanbase he invited to the franchise, his inevitable parting in Avengers: Endgame was heartbreaking, to say the least.

Since then, the possibility of him returning has been a heavily discussed topic. While many wish to see him return as Captain America, there is an entire roster of heroes and perhaps even villains that would best suit him.

Out of these, the Russo Brothers themselves have stated their wish to see the actor as Wolverine. However, it may be another X-Men who is better suited for the character.

The Russo Brothers Want Chris Evans To Play Wolverine

Recently, the Russo Brothers gave an interview with Comicbook, where they talked about other characters that Chris Evans could play now that he long parted ways from Captain America. The pair are very familiar with the actor and his capabilities, having directed Captain America: The Winter Solider, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

They revealed that they adore just how much range he possesses as an actor. They mentioned that in real life, Evans is nothing like Steve Rogers. Clarifying that they mean no insult by it, they believe the actor to be more full of life compared to the man out of time.

“Evans has incredible range and great physicality, and he’s real good at body control,” Joe Russo said. “He’s an incredible actor. I don’t mean this in a bad way, but he’s nothing like Captain America. Steve Rogers is very controlled and quiet, understated. Chris is energetic and funny and charismatic, and he brings a lot of energy to set. I’d love to see him do something like Wolverine.”

Understanding his personality as well as his talents as an actor, the pair revealed that they would wish for him to play a version of Wolverine in the new phase of the MCU. Logan is a character that is extremely full of energy, and unfortunately, audiences have yet to see a performance like that from Evans.

Another X-Men Better Suited For Chris Evans

While there is absolutely no doubt that Chris Evans could do an excellent job as Wolverine, there may be another X-Men character who would be better suited for his skills as an actor. Remy LeBeau, or Gambit is a mutant who can charge inanimate objects and cause them to explode. Although his morality is complex, he eventually does become a part of the X-Men, getting close to some of the members.

The essence of this character is complex, having a soft spot for abandoned people, while at the same time, finding a sense of loyalty towards the chaos he was brought up in. Chris Evans could perfectly play such a character, not only because of the darkness that LeBeau possesses but also the sense of leadership he feels obligated to.
