This resulted in women from across the globe standing against powerful men and allegations of r*pe and s*xual assault came to light. The incident became known as the #MeToo Movement. It was in 2020 when Weinstein was found guilty in a r*pe case by the court in New York and was sentenced to 23 years in prison.

Starting his jail time at the Wende Correctional Facility in New York, Weinstein’s NY term was short-lived. In 2021, the producer was extradited to Los Angeles to face further charges where he was found guilty of three out of the seven charges against him. With 23 years of prison levied by the New York court and an additional 16 years in a Los Angeles jail, Harvey Weinstein had a combined sentence of 39 years in prison. However, that all changed three years later.
