A sharp-eyed Twitter user, ItzPaulHD_v1, was quick to notice that the active project appeared to bear the intriguing name “State of Play.” With Terashima confirming that the photograph was taken on September 27, it has fueled unchecked speculation that the next PlayStation State of Play event might be just around the corner.

Since the introduction of State of Play events over four years ago, Sony has only organized three such broadcasts in the fourth quarter. Even if Kojima is diligently preparing a trailer for an upcoming event, it doesn’t necessarily guarantee a State of Play broadcast in the coming month. Based on both his and Terashima’s social media activity, it’s evident that Kojima typically invests several weeks to several months in crafting a trailer.

Now the question that keeps us wondering is this; if the revealed photograph truly shows Kojima working on a State of Play video what could this captivating teaser possibly be about? The exciting speculation is that it might be connected to none other than Death Stranding 2.
