Hideo Kojima’s love for cinema isn’t hidden from the world. Everyone who follows him on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) must be well acquainted with their feeds full of his day where he’ll share a movie or two, either a review or simply what he watched. The video game auteur took the fans by surprise hilariously when his recommendations included a documentary based on him.

With almost 38 years in the industry, he has decked out the video games industry with titles like Metal Gear, Snatchers, and most recently Death Stranding. The last one became a prophecy for the COVID-19 pandemic where humans preferred to stay in isolation, depriving themselves of any connection to the outer world.

Fans Just Love Hideo Kojima

Going about his normal day of sharing movies and TV shows on the social media platform, Hideo Kojima made people’s day when one of his recommendations included Connecting Worlds, a documentary based on his work which was released recently on streaming service Disney Plus.

The reaction of the fans was worth noticing for they immediately began cheering him for the post. ““I strongly recommend myself” this is why we love you, said one fan. Another chimed in, “those are compelling reasons to get Disney Plus”.

Connecting Worlds clocks in at around 60 minutes, which is ironic given his tendency to create lengthy cutscenes, making them more of a movie than a video game. One can easily finish a box of popcorn while watching Metal Gear Solid 4‘s final cutscene.

Even in video games, he never fails to put a little bit of himself which is made of “70%” movies as can be seen in his X bio. Apart from the Metal Gear series, Death Stranding too has a half an hour cutscene. The sequel to the game is slated to release in 2025 and the momentum is likely to stay with it.

Who Knows What’s Waiting To Come Out of That Mind

The video game auteur has been active in the industry for 37 years now.

And his movie recommendations are no short of a punch of joy. He recently praised Denis Villenueve’s Dune: Part Two by saying, “This masterpiece of Denis will likely become a “resistance” that will significantly delay the spread of subscription services.

Typically, he prefers one-liners in his post captions indicating that he saw a particular movie unlike the one he gave for Dune: Part Two. Other movies he has feasted his eyes on according to his social handle include Black PantherPacific RimThe Super Mario Bros., and more.

Although considered a video game auteur, it is undeniable that the foundation of his ideas was laid in his childhood when he developed his love for films and literature. It is about time that the fans see the next masterpiece springing out of his mind.
