Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studio had several significant updates during the recently concluded SDCC panel, including a new title for the Fantastic Four. Pedro Pascal’s upcoming film is now called The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It was earlier announced that Ralph Ineson would play Galactus, the big baddie in the film. And the latest Galactus theories don’t sound promising for Pascal’s Reed Richards and team.

According to a popular theory, Feige’s universe will introduce the character as a one-of-a-kind multiversal threat. It is hinted that he could be a universe-eater in the MCU version unlike the planet-eater fans got to see in the Fox movies.

Besides the brand new title, Marvel also showed off some early footage from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Fans among the SDCC attendees learned that Marvel’s new family is going to appear in a retro-future version of the 1960s, set in another universe. Many wondered how the team could eventually connect with the MCU’s main universe-616.

However, one Galactus theory, reported by The Cosmic Circus, suggests a way to connect the ’60s superhero family to the present-day Earth-616. The theory revealed the big bad villain exists across the multiverse as a single entity without any variants. In the comics, Galactus devoured worlds to sustain his life force, but he will probably sustain on universes in the MCU films.

Fans came to the conclusion that such a Galactus would not be good news for Reed Richards and his team. It was possible that the film would end with the villain devouring the Fantastic Four’s original universe, forcing them to flee to Earth-616. It could mean that when the team appears in one of the Avengers movies, they would be dealing with the emotions of losing their world to Galactus.

However, fans also expressed concern that Deadpool & Wolverine had now made the Fox universe films canon, making Galactus from Fantastic Four: The Rise of Silver Surfer a possible variant. Some also speculated that Dr. Doom in Avengers: Doomsday would go up against Galactus. Some of the fan theories read:

In the SDCC-released footage of the film, Pedro Pascal‘s Mr. Fantastic is leading a science program and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm is taking part in a dating show. The film production kicked off on Tuesday after the SDCC. Besides Pascal and Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn star as the Storm siblings.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby designed Galactus as a cosmic giant villain who was just beyond any human imagination. Fox’s Fantastic Four film was criticized for making him just a ‘cloud’ villain. MCU fans were thrilled when Ralph Ineson was roped in to play the role in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

At the SDCC panel, a comic-accurate glimpse of Galactus was also provided, where Ineson’s face was shown to be peeking through a building. Some fans felt that the villain was still not portrayed in the magnitude as shown in the comics. Fans expect the character to not turn out to be another disaster like Fox’s Galactus.
