Even with such a massive fanbase for James Gunn, Peter Safran, and David Zaslav; it would seem as if a majority of the fans are still leaning towards the creation of Zack Snyder’s DCEU. As contradictory as it had been, fans came to believe that it wasn’t as profitable. However, that was not the case.

Zack Snyder Made Tremendous Profit For The DCEU Before James Gunn Took Over

After Snyder’s departure, David Zaslav took control of the DCEU/DCU for the time being. A few months later, Peter Safran and James Gunn were announced as the new co-CEOs of the DC Studios and were given free rein to do whatever they liked with the DC characters.

Zack Snyder became quite the controversial star after his clashes with Warner Bros. Several critics and fans revolted against the director for allegedly ruining the DCEU and blaming him for making bad movies on purpose. Well, Greg Silverman, the former president of Warner Bros. decided to take sides and defended Zack Snyder by stating that he made tremendous profits with his films for the DCEU unlike what the critics and fans said.

In a Twitter post that alleged that Snyder made Warner Bros. lose a lot of money with his film, Greg Silverman was quick to reply and defended Zack Snyder by stating that the 300 director’s films at WB were pretty profitable.

The film producer was immediately revered as the people realized that Snyder indeed made quite a hefty profit for the DCEU and Warner Bros. Discovery during his tenure. Under Snyder’s reign, movies like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and, Watchmen went on to earn quite massive figures at the global box office with Aquaman grossing a little over $1 billion dollars at the global box office.

So how much exactly did Zack Snyder earn profits for the DCEU? Well, it’s more than what James Gunn has been able to do so far.

Well, to put things into perspective, Snyder’s movies have always been a commercial success, to say the least. Having started his vision with the 2013 movie Man of Steel, the film earned a whopping $668 million against a budget of $225 million.

The director then moved on to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which received mixed reviews from the audiences. The action flick still managed to earn a whopping $872.7 million with a budget of $250 million. Zack Snyder would go on to take a break from directing the 2017 movie Justice League which was later taken over by Joss Whedon and failed miserably. After releasing The Snyder Cut, the director departed the DCEU never to look back again.

It was during this time that James Gunn and Peter Safran took control and created the DCU. From the reports, Snyder did give a lot of profit to Warner Bros. Discovery and the DCEU. It is now up to James Gunn and Peter Safran to prove their worth by creating an orderly universe that could potentially earn more than Zack Snyder’s vision.
