The fans are shocked as Henry Cavill leaves behind the mantle of the Geralt of Rivia. It can’t be denied that The Witcher series catapulted the star’s success in no time. But as the 39-year-old star is making his long-awaited comeback as Superman in DC, looks like he can’t give time to both franchises. Although a clear-cut reason is not stated by either Netflix or Cavill, some rumors say that now the Enola Holmes star is a big name and might not be interested in doing any TV series.

The recently released Black Adam paved the way for Superman’s comeback in the Cinematic Universe of DC. Dwayne Johnson actively worked for the fans to bring Henry Cavill back to the bandwagon. But nobody thought that this change can have so major ramifications on his other projects.

Henry Cavill’s future in TV Series looks bleak

A movie star means someone who has the star power to attract an audience to the theaters by their name. According to the rumors, Henry Cavill’s management considers him a big movie star after his cameo of his in Black Adam as a result of which they want to only focus on big movies instead of any TV series.

Even though Henry Cavill has been a part of many notable projects like Mission: Impossible-Fallout, Man From U.N.C.L.E, or a well-built Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes. But Superman and Witcher acted as major catalysts in his career.

Around a recent round of rumors, it was officially confirmed that the Man of Steel star passed the torch of Geralt of Rivia to The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth. The initial reaction to this was everything but good. Several fans complained about this decision as Cavill’s Witcher was considered one of the best-portrayed characters in the world of pop culture.

On the other hand, the star also signed a new movie with Guy Ritchie titled The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare. But if the Immortals actor is really done with doing TV shows, then the fans would be highly disappointed. This would also cancel all the wishes of the fans to be able to spot him in a Game of Thrones-based spin-off. It points to the conclusion that the actor will only stay committed to big theatrical projects from now on.

Some sources also claim that there can also be other reasons for him to leave the role, most likely because the makers didn’t hold a good attitude towards the source materials of The Witcher. It was said by a former producer and writer of the show, Beau DeMayo himself that the showrunners don’t like the works of Andrzej Sapkoswski and the CD Projekt Red’s Games. Whereas Henry Cavill is a diehard fan of those and even campaigned for the role which can prove to be a potential reason for his departure.

Following the British actor’s departure from the Netflix Fantasy after three seasons, many fans questioned his commitment made to the series for 7 seasons. But the actor has also signed a long-term contract with the new DC regime led by James Gunn and Peter Safran which involves a wide array of projects.

With Man of Steel 2 in development and other DCU upcoming projects in the making, it was a precedent that the star might have to leave other big commitments at this point. This DCU deal also eliminated all the rumors of him being the next James Bond and now his chances are extremely negligible. It can be hoped that the DCU can have a fruitful future with all the updates coming around.

The Witcher recast is sure to affect the viewership of the series as various fans seem unhappy with the decision. Still, it will be interesting to see how Liam Hemsworth suits in the role of the white-haired Geralt of Rivia in the fourth season of the show.

The third season of the series is set to air in mid-2023 while a prequel miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin, will release on December 25, 2022, on Netflix
