When it comes to Hollywood heartthrobs, there have been several stars in the industry over the years that have taken the title of being irresistible to the audience. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, that moniker was held by Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson for their roles as the devilishly handsome werewolf Jacob Black and vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight.
While their performances in the series were nothing short of extraordinary, what made them a worldwide sensation were their dashing looks and charisma that helped to attract a largely female audience/ But several years later, while his co-star has moved on from the fame to diversify his resume, Lautner’s career has been brought to a standstill, and it’s all because of his 2011 film Abduction.
How Taylor Lautner’s Budding Career Was Shot Down By Abduction
Before his rise to fame, the actor was making strides on the silver screen in many memorable roles, but The Twilight Saga proved to be the springboard that Taylor Lautner was looking for. Making his appearance as Jacob Black alongside Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen was enough to solidify his title of a heartthrob back in the day.
However, Pattinson has moved on to other great projects in the industry, his recent masterpiece being 2022’s The Batman, Lautner’s career has come to a standstill, arguably dead.

While at the peak of their fame, both the stars, along with Kristen Stweart, tried to capitalize on their opportunity. In the Home Team star’s case, he tried to do it with an Action/Thriller titled Abduction. As Twilight had made him into a star for the ladies, he tried to get away from that, and solidifying himself as an upcoming action star seemed the way to go.
But in doing so, he may have made a big mistake. Not only was the film poorly received for its execution and narration, but Lautner’s performance wasn’t convincing either the audience or the critics. Thus, it became a sore reminder of his failure to him as well as the film industry, which doesn’t seem to be interested in giving him the role of a leading man in any major production anytime soon.

What Was Abduction About?
While the film’s plot may have been interesting, it was brought down due to poor execution and narration of the story, something which everyone saw had a lot of potential.
Abduction follows the story of Nathan Harper, who has always believed that he somehow didn’t belong in his own family. Thus, his suspicions one day lead him to find his picture from his younger days on a missing person website. His whole world turns upside-down when he realizes he may have been abducted when he was young and has lived with his false family all this time.
