This moment was so talked about that it helped the two get the MTV Movie Award for best kiss. During an interview, Blair talked about what it was like for her to film this scene, as well as what her mother said to her after watching it.

What Was It Like For Selma Blair To Shoot This Scene?

It is quite common for actors to feel nervous before a scene. This is even more the case when the scene in question is intimate. Many actors have confessed to feeling anxious before shooting scenes like this. According to an article by Entertainment Weekly, Selma Blair was no different in this, confessing that before filming her kissing scene with Sarah Michelle Geller in Cruel Intentions, she was extremely nervous.

I’d never kissed a girl before. I remember I was like, ‘What if I really am a horrible kisser?'”

The actress revealed her reason for this, stating that she had never kissed a girl before in her life. Having not had an experience such as this, she was nervous for many reasons, including the fact that she would be experiencing this for the first time in front of a camera. She confessed that she was afraid that she would be a horrible kisser, embarrassing herself in front of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress.

Selma Blair’s Mother Talked To Her About This

Ironically enough, Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s kissing scene in Cruel Intentions won the award for MTV’s best kiss in a film. Blair’s mother, however, does not seem to agree with the MTV Movie Awards, as according to Entertainment Weekly, the actress revealed that her mother told her some very kind words after watching the scene of the two kissing.

“My mother, after seeing it for the first time, told me, ‘Honestly, Selma, did you have to use so much tongue? That poor Sarah, she looks so delicate, and then you just have that Goliath in her mouth.'” 

The actress revealed that, oddly enough, her mother commented on Blair’s kissing abilities and even gave her feedback on them. She mentioned that after seeing this for the first time, her mother asked her why she used so much tongue in the scene. She then went on to show concern for Gellar, stating that the actress looked very delicate, and it looked like Blair who was being very rough.
