Netflix seems to have done it again as yet another project gets a Netflix reboot. M. Night Shyamalan almost ruined the franchise in 2010 with his movie The Last Airbender and the streaming giant wants to fix that mistake.
With a teaser dropping for the upcoming 2024 project, fans are quite anxious as to whether Netflix could save the beloved franchise or ruin it further than M. Night Shyamalan did in 2010. Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is slated to release in 2024 but fans couldn’t control their excitement.
Fans Fear Netflix Might Ruin The Avatar: The Last Airbender
Back in 2005, fans were delighted to meet Aang when the American animated television series first aired. Having 3 seasons to its name, Avatar the Last Airbender gained quite the popularity and fame for its storyline.
Notable director M. Night Shyamalan tried to improve upon that fame and took to directing the 2010 film called The Last Airbender. The movie was considered to be one of the worst adaptations to ever exist and Shyamalan was given intense hate for ruining the franchise. Netflix recently released a teaser for its upcoming project Avatar: The Last Airbender and fans are already paranoid.

Although the teaser looked great, fans had their own judgments to pass and their own fears to write as they took to the comment section and remembered/roasted M. Night Shyamalan’s 2010 movie.
Hopefully it is way better than that movie that doesn’t exist and we don’t talk about.

The 2010 movie, which was directed by M. Night Shyamalan received a record-low rating of 4/10 on IMDB and an unbelievable 5% on Rotten Tomatoes! With such low records, fans of the franchise should truly be worried.
M. Night Shyamalan Is Tired of the Hollywood Industry
With Shyamalan making newer and unique movies with each film that he releases, it seems that he has detached himself from Hollywood standards. In an interview, the director revealed that Hollywood has become quite different for him.
“If you look at the industry right now… there are movies that feel incestuous, they’re just masturbatory… It’s just Hollywood talking to themselves. And then there are movies where they’re saying: the audience is dumb so we’re going to take all the soul out and we’re just going to do it by numbers. These are signs of complete dysfunction.”
The director recently released the 2023 movie titled Knock at the Cabin which received mixed reviews from the audience. He is currently attached to three upcoming projects as its director and he will probably never forget making the 2010 movie The Last Airbender.
