The gaming community has been on the lookout for the upcoming Horizon online multiplayer project for the past two years and new details have finally surfaced. PlayStation Studios is going all in with the franchise and believes it would skyrocket the company and brand to new heights with content overload.
New information about the online multiplayer project has been shared from job listings and sounds promising. Perhaps this could be the right step forward for Sony’s vested interest in expanding its borders from single-player stories to online multiplayer games while capitalizing on the unique concept of the world of Horizon.
New Details About the Highly Anticipated Horizon Online Multiplayer Project Has Been Shared
Guerrilla Games spent the last few years working on the Horizon franchise and it seems like the developers will focus solely on expanding the universe through different spinoff projects. Despite the massive success of the first two games, the Horizon franchise is not meant for everyone and Sony’s insistence to shove more content down the gaming community’s throat could lead to its downfall.
Multiple projects are in active development making it difficult for casual players to keep up with the insane amount of content. However, one project that piqued the gaming community’s interest is an ambitious online multiplayer game that has been in active development for the past 6 and a half years.

Game development is not for the faint of heart and can be time-consuming. The developers wanted to perfect and utilize the concept, gameplay, and level design introduced in Horizon Zero Dawn to cater to many other players inside one lobby and deliver an original and satisfying story while showcasing the advancements and improvements made for the in-game enemies like machines,
The game developers collaborated with other companies like LEGO to develop a smaller spinoff project loosely based on the story of the original game called LEGO Horizon Adventures.
This project could be perfect for younger audiences and shed new light on the franchise from a different perspective away from the mature content, whilst also establishing a pipeline for a newer audience in years to come.
Perhaps the Online Multiplayer Project Will Do Better Than Horizon Forbidden West
One could argue that Sony Interactive Entertainment is pushing too hard to make this franchise a big deal. The gaming company is biting more than it could chew and had to cut corners like pulling the plug on the live-action Horizon series with Netflix and some fans consider it a blessing in disguise.
PlayStation Studios and Guerrilla Games are trying everything possible to appeal to the gaming community and earn more goodwill. The Horizon franchise leaped the VR space with Horizon Call of the Mountain and did wonders for virtual reality enthusiasts and fans of the game, perhaps this online project could do the same in that regard.
The game developers are checking all the marks in the gaming community demographic. The LEGO spinoff for younger audiences and the online project for players who are interested in multiplayer games that is all the rage nowadays.
Perhaps this project will benefit the franchise more than the company’s dream. It will greatly rely on execution and passion.
