David Benioff and D. B. Weiss are writers and makers of one of the most popular TV shows and are highly celebrated for their work on the HBO drama show series Game of Thrones, a series that ran from 2011 to 2019. It was an adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s A Melody of Ice and Fire and they acted as the showrunners and executive producers for the show.

Heeding Emilia Clarke’s claim that she hasn’t watched the hit HBO show House of the Dragon, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have finally spoken out about the highly anticipated Game of Thrones spin-off. This is a surprising turn of events because Clarke, who played the famous Daenerys Targaryen in 8 seasons of Game of Thrones admitted the following in an interview with Variety.
“No! Can you forgive me? It’s too weird. I’m so happy it’s happening. I’m over the moon about all the awards… I just can’t do it. It’s so weird. It’s so strange. It’s kind of like someone saying, ‘You want to go to this school reunion that’s not your year? Want to go to that school reunion?’ That’s how it feels. I’m avoiding it.”
This confession ignited interest and theories among fans, as Benioff and Weiss broadly stayed quiet about the project for a long time. For us, if our name is on it, especially that, while being completely detached and uninvolved, it felt like the strain that would come with that hands-off approach — with its success or failure or anything in between — was not worth it.”
Benioff and Weiss’ remarks proposed that they were not sure how people would take the spin-off series.
