There is little known about the Mangaka of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda. He prefers to keep his personal life to himself and rarely comments on anything unrelated to his work. However, fans know little about the mangaka’s family life. Oda’s wife is a real-life version of Nami, one of his most famous characters.
People who have watched One Piece know that Nami is the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates. She is the third member to join Luffy’s crew. Her persona might seem stingy and manipulative, but she has a noble goal. She dreams of buying her friends and family out of slavery. She is also quite a popular character for cosplaying, as fans mostly imitate her in the community. One such cosplayer was Chiaki Inaba, who became the wife of Eiichiro Oda.
Mangaka of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda married Nami’s actress
Mangaka is known to keep their personal life very private, and information regarding their life affairs only circulates sometimes. Oftentimes news does spread around, and they get criticized heavily with mostly adverse reactions from people. One such case is Oh My Goddess! creator Kōsuke Fujishima also married a cosplayer. Her name was Nekomu Otogi, and she was 20 years old.
Fujishima and Otogi’s marriage was subjected to heavy controversies since there was an age difference of more than 30 years. However, Oda’s marriage with Inaba hasn’t been subjected to any kind of hatred or negativity. They live privately and have two daughters. Hopefully, the two will remain together for a long time.
Oda met his wife Chiaki Inaba at a Jump Festa
Chiaki Inaba used to be a cosplayer, model, and race queen. She was cosplaying as One Piece’s Nami at Jump Festa 2002. It was the eventful stage show where she ran into Eiichiro Oda, and the two hit it off. The couple dated for a few years before marrying each other in 2004. The duo is still together, but being a Mangaka, Oda lives separately because of his rigorous work schedule. However, it doesn’t mean the couple rarely sees each other.
Fans were quite thrilled at the fact that One Piece’s Mangaka ended up marrying a real-life lookalike of his character. As the couple’s story emerged, fans quickly pointed out that she resembles Nami intricately. Indeed, Nami is a popular cosplay character, but Inaba certainly stands out from the rest. From her cosplay images, she looks like the pre-time-skip version of the character, before Nami grew her hair out.
