Lizzo, a celebrated pop star, has captivated audiences with her songs and engaging performances. She has become an inspiration for many spreading messages of body positivity and self-love. However recent revelations about the four-time Grammy winner and her management company have presented a contrasting perspective. Three of Lizzo’s background dancers have come forward accusing the superstar of engaging in fat-shaming behavior shedding light on some concerning incidents.
Lizzo’s Background Dancers accused Her of Fat-Shaming Them
Three of the Hustlers star’s background dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, have filed a complaint against the pop star, her company Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. (BGBT), and dance team captain Shirlene Quigley for harassing them on multiple grounds. One particularly distressing accusation involves Lizzo’s reported fat-shaming of Arianna Davis. The statement released by officials shared how Davis was questioned about her commitment just because she gained a bit of weight.
“In professional dance, a dancer’s weight gain is often seen as that dancer getting lazy or worse off as a performer. Lizzo’s and [choreographer Tanisha] Scott’s questions about Ms. Davis’s commitment to the tour were thinly veiled concerns about Ms. Davis’s weight gain, which Lizzo had previously called attention to after noticing it at the South by Southwest music festival.”
Netizens React Negatively As Lizzo Contradicted Her Values
The allegations of Lizzo extend beyond fat-shaming as three of the dancers presented their explicitly uncomfortable experiences of working in a hostile environment. The dancers shared that they were forced to touch n*de performers during a live s-x show in Amsterdam’s Red Light District and the superstar even pushed Davis to touch the bre*sts of one of the performers. The alleged actions of the pop star towards her dancers are quite concerning as they contradict the values she promotes. Ron Zambrano, the attorney representing the dancers, expressed his disappointment in this contradiction.
“The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing.”
Netizens also expressed their dissatisfaction with the pop star as they condemned her unacceptable behavior with the victims of the case.

Just fat.
Fat people can fatshame others but will go ballistic on anyone else who does it.
Also most celebrities are hypocrites.— Doombot23 (@ShadowLurker_23) August 2, 2023
Tbh, I feel like she fat shamed a bunch of girls that were in good shape, just not good enough for “her standards” as she likely judges everyone based on what she wishes she was

I wonder if she understands the gravity of this situation.
Those are some weighty accusations.— Roger Bacon (@riverotter1968) August 2, 2023

Though the other side of the story from the About Damn Time singer is yet to be known, the instance still highlights the duality of several public figures. The allegations against the pop star are surely concerning as they contradict her views on body positivity, representing the incongruence between her public and private actions.
