Who would ever forget that iconic cameo scene of singer Katy Perry in How I Met Your Mother? She brought so much life into that episode, not to mention it was perhaps the raunchiest cameo ever in the series. Even Brad Pitt’s surprise appearance in Friends could not compete with that.
Indeed, the famed Hollywood A-lister joined the band to bring some hotness to the show, but despite the actor being handsome and all, his cameo wasn’t as spicy as that of Perry.
Katy Perry’s TV Cameo Beats Brad Pitt’s Surprise Appearance
Katy Perry showed off her hidden acting talent during the 15th episode of the sixth season of How I Met Your Mother. Entitled ‘Oh Honey’, it featured the pop star as a guest, playing the beautiful Honey, Zoey’s cousin and a gullible girl in which the episode was named after.
In the scene, Future Ted couldn’t recall Perry’s name, although he remembered how they all reacted to her remarks by uttering, “Oh, honey” and so the name just stuck. Zoey originally set her cousin up with Ted but she ended up hanging out and spending the night with Barney.
Honey was portrayed as a pretty and seductive woman, but despite this, Perry’s cameo was a huge deal in her career. She needed that exposure even more as it was the time her stardom was about to soar higher.
Her cameo was also well-received by fans and critics, hence it remained one of the most unforgettable surprise celebrity guests in the show. Despite only appearing in one episode, that alone cemented her legacy in the drama-comedy genre.
Brad Pitt was already a huge star before his cameo in Friends, so fans were totally blown away when they saw him appear at the door and interact with other cast members. He played Will Colbert on Season 8 Episode 9, “The One with the Rumor.”
The episode was Friends’ annual Thanksgiving special and it focused on the rift between Will and Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel. While his appearance in the show was indeed memorable, it wasn’t as vulgar as Perry’s. The series did not even rely on Pitt’s visuals, but it was more story-driven.

A year after her cameo in How I Met Your Mother, Katy Perry spoke with Interview Magazine and reflected on her success as an artist. Now that she has dipped her toes in acting, she wants to explore more and expand her horizons.
Well, if you keep on doing the same role, you’ll be typecast. I just feel like I’m going to be criticized regardless of what I do next, so I might as well do something that I feel really passionate about… So maybe you need to try something different—at least for now. That’s what I’m hoping I can do.
Perry is making a comeback to the mainstream media with a new lead track and album, but as to her return to acting remains to be seen.
