HBO’s critically acclaimed Succession is back again with its highly anticipated final season that is set to conclude the comedy-drama with 10 episodes. Logan Roy (Brian Cox) leads the operations of the family business WayStar RoyCo. and its core members, Shioban ‘Shiv’ Roy, Kendall Roy, and Rogan Roy.

Their family’s thirst for power and money sets the theme for this hilarious, dark, and dramatic tale of betrayal, success, and a lot of cursing. The cast of the show each demanded and received a hefty salary throughout the show, but Cox’s demands dwarf the rest. Almost a reflection of what we see in the show.

Brian Cox’s earnings from Succession.

Brian Cox, Sarah Snook, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, and Matthew Macfadyen have grown in immense popularity along with Succession since it aired in 2018. Along with the fame, they were each allowed to re-negotiate their initial salaries of $100,000 per season personally. The siblings of the show bagged between $300,000-$350,000 per season along with Macfadyen, Ruck, and Nicholas Braun (Cousin Greg) who earned the same for their performances in season 3.

Brian Cox, essentially paid to roast these characters for an hour every episode, has been able to demand more than the rest of the cast. At par with the salaries of Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke in the infectiously famed Game of Thrones, Cox demanded and received an astounding salary of $400,000-$500,000 per season for his performance. This makes it a total earning of $700,000 plus earnings from season 4.

An Overview of Succession and Logan Roy’s role.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Brian Cox has done a spectacular job of playing the 83-year-old founder and CEO of WayStar RoyCo, the 5th largest media conglomerate in the world that he built coming from the thick of poverty. Unlike him, his children are born with a silver spoon and unsavoury amounts of attitude. The Unapologetically brash and brazen CEO is compelled to insult and delegate his subordinates i.e. his family, who carry on the same abusive tendencies. In the opening season, Logan Roy suffers a heart attack, a potential flatline that his children perceive as a potential to take over. These elements blanket the tone of the show.

Safety briefing? Here’s the safety briefing: If you move against me, I’ll put a hole in the back of your f***ing head.“- Logan Roy

Succession’s storyline until season 3.

Until the season three finale, viewers have been able to absorb the complexities of pride and the brain-splitting satire of the show. Season 3 shows Logan Roy finally stepping down from his position as the CEO after which Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong), decides to make a play toward the CEO position. But eventually, the position goes to none of the siblings and instead to Gerri Kellman (J-smith Cameron), who has a taste for personal benefits as well. The rest of the show displays a rollercoaster of events that eventually lead up to Kendall, Shiv(Sarah Snook), and Rogan(Kieran Culkin) to ‘play-ball’ against their father who is offered a huge cheque for the takeover of WayStar Royco. Season 4 will decide the fate of the desperate Roy siblings and, open doors to more nail-biting suspense and insults.

“You Make Your Own Reality. And Once You’ve Done It, Apparently, Everyone’s Of The Opinion It Was All So F****ing Obvious.”- Logan Roy
