Within the anime and manga community, Naruto Uzumaki is a highly cherished character. He even continues to have a firm hold on the hearts of the fans in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, the Naruto sequel. Naruto has been the focal point of a lot of action in Boruto for a very long time because of this.

But as the show went on, his role started to become less and less. Indeed, Naruto Uzumaki, the man who gave the series its start and is the sole reason it is still popular today, can be said to have been let down by the Boruto series.

When Boruto was announced, fans expected that along with the adventures of his son, fans would get a chance to see Naruto live his dream as a Hokage and as one of the strongest Ninja in the Narutoverse. But Boruto not only failed to express Naruto more profoundly, but they also made him a wasted character as the story went on.

Instead, they wasted the character completely by not only making him powerless but also victimizing the character.

Naruto Became a Wasted Character in Boruto

First, Naruto’s significance was diminished when his powers were taken away. What’s worse is that the Naruto’s strongest source of power, Kurama, died, on top of the fact that he wasted away a good deal of his powers by just sitting at the Hokage desk without training most of the time.

It became abundantly obvious during Code’s attack on the village that Naruto was nothing more than a barrier to the coming generation. The fans were shocked to learn that Naruto would die in a fight with these formidable monsters, even though it was obvious. It is unlikely that Naruto will ever regain his previous level of strength.

But it’s not all about strength here. From now on, Naruto plays a very small part in the narrative, so there is a very good reason that he won’t ever have as much of an impact on the story as he did in the past.
