Despite making a career out of his role as Robert Langdon in various adaptations of Dan Brown’s books, which are all about conspiracies, Tom Hanks prefers to not mix reality with his films. Claiming that he’s not into conspiracies when the cameras aren’t rolling, Hanks noted that it would take some hardcore convincing before he starts believing in such theories.

When the cameras aren’t rolling, Tom Hanks prefers focusing on reality and practicality rather than conspiracy theories. I usually start it with this question: ‘How stupid are you, that you got to believe this kind of evidence?’. I like nice, empirical evidence, I like historical fact. Because, otherwise, everything is a conspiracy theory. Everything is a conspiracy theory. So, I don’t believe them all, and sometimes I go out of my way to find out why they’re not accurate.”

Admitting that he will need a lot of legitimate convincing before he starts believing in any of the conspiracy theories, Tom Hanks mentioned that he finds the ideas dumb. He even mentioned how he prefers to stay away from that corner of the internet.

Tom Hanks’ Most Movies Are Rooted in Reality

While there are controversies surrounding the popular conspiracy theories, as few people find it convincing while others find it dumb, Tom Hanks isn’t confused about his opinion on them. Openly calling the theories dumb concepts, Hanks admitted pushing all of those believers out of his way.

Thankfully, not all of Tom Hanks’ projects are based on conspiracy theories. Apart from the Dan Brown projects, Hanks rarely involves himself in such fantasy-based films and shows. The actor rather prefers to stay grounded and focus on reality. Perhaps, that’s the reason why most of his projects are rooted in reality.
