While onscreen, Hulk and Thanos weren’t too keen on being in each other’s presence, like most MCU stars, Mark Ruffalo and Josh Brolin shared a wholesome bond off-screen. Brolin, who has now jumped onto another acclaimed sci-fi IP (Dune) since leaving the MCU, recently reflected on his time with the person he severely beat up during the opening minutes of Infinity War.

Although Brolin did an impeccable job playing the MCU’s best villain, he had a little humiliating moment in Endgame, but thanks to Ruffalo’s brilliant memory, he was able to mitigate the situation.

Mark Ruffalo’s Memory Saved Josh Brolin From Embarrassment

Speaking with GQ, Josh Brolin recounted forgetting his line while filming Avengers: Endgame, but fortunately for him, Professor Hulk was there to save the day. While Mark Ruffalo is undoubtedly one of the best actors to step foot in the MCU, he also seems to have a pretty sharp memory. Not only did he have his own lines memorized, but he also remembered his costars’ lines. And this came in handy when, unlike the Poor Things Star, Josh Brolin had a hard time recalling his lines, as Ruffalo saved him from further embarrassment.

“Chris [Hemsworth] is off there saying something. He’s picking up his big [hammer] thing, and I go. ‘What’s the line?’ and [Ruffalo] actually gave me the line. I remember I thought that was so funny. It was like how the f-ck did you remember the line?’ Ruffalo is the nicest human being in the world and the most giving human being. “

Apart from commending Ruffalo’s memory, Josh Brolin also lauded the actor as the nicest person in the world, as he deemed this instance his favorite memory from his time filming the Avengers flicks.

Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. Didn’t Get Their Scientific Lines in the MCU

While Ruffalo was good with memory, as he had no issues recollecting his and his costars’ dialogues, he and Robert Downey Jr. once confessed they didn’t get their long lines in the MCU. Being the two smartest people in the room, Tony and Bruce often engaged in scientific talks, especially in Age of Ultron, but ironically, for the actors, the scientific talk made no sense. RDJ recalled (via Variety’s Actors on Actors):

“I mean, in the Marvel days, everything might change or we’re talking to a tennis ball. You and I, the science bros, we would have these long passages about absolute gobbledygook…” to which Ruffalo responded, “Bullsh-t. We didn’t know what that was, what that meant.”

But these scientific talks did allow these characters to grow and bond, which serves as a testament to the duo’s acting chops.
