It Took 48 Hours to Convince Hugh Jackman

Ryan Reynolds was dead set on a Deadpool-Wolverine movie. Certainly, MCU retired Wolverine in the 2017 flick Logan but it took Reynolds’ constant emphasis on Wolverine’s return. The resurrection of the character and Jackman’s participation in it was not so simple, it took 48 hours to convince Jackman to make his big return.

“I went to a screening of ‘Deadpool.’ I was 20 minutes in, and I was like, ‘Ah, damn it! All I kept seeing in my head was ‘48 Hrs.’ with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. So it’s been brewing for a long time. It just took me longer to get here,” Jackman said (via Collider).

Reynolds and Jackman have been long-time pals and it’s certainly exciting for fans. For Reynolds, his return will elevate the enthusiasm in the movie as he was overjoyed by whatever convinced the actor to play his iconic character again. Shawn Levy-directed Deadpool 3 will feature several MCU characters, however, the plot details are unknown but it is fair to assume that the movie will be another multiversal madness. Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit the theaters on 26 July 2024.
