Hunter x Hunter has been one of the most popular anime since the late 1990s. After Yu Yu Hakusho’s success, Yoshihiro Togashi decided to venture into an action-packed adventurous manga. Eventually, it became a popular manga and was adapted into anime in 1999. It went on for only four seasons and came to a sudden stop. Later, the manga was re-adapted into an anime in 2011 and gained worldwide popularity.

The Chimera Ant arc became a fan-favorite arc due to the inclusion of dark elements into the Shounen manga. There have been several fan theories relating to Hunter x Hunter. One of the popular theories surrounding Kite, who made his anime debut in the initial stage of the Chimera Ant. The theory claims that he was the reason behind Gon Freecs transforming into adult Gon.

Throughout his journey, Gon Freecs met several people, but few became close to him as Kite did. Kite became his mentor and trained him for the upcoming battle with the Chimera Ant. While exploring the Chimera Ant base, Neferpitou ambushed them. Sensing her immense nen and physical prowess, Kite advised Gon to run away while he dealt with her.

Kite’s special ability was called Crazy Slots. When he wants to use a weapon, his special ability randomly summons a weapon from the Crazy Slots. He cannot choose a weapon and has to rely on his luck. A popular fan theory claims that out of the 1-9 Crazy Slots, the third slot granted him the ability of future sight. He used it before his fight with Neferpitou. Like Dr. Stange’s Time Stone’s abilities, it allowed him to use the possible outcomes of his battle against Neferpitou.

After seeing that none of the outcomes were in his favor, he chose to follow the one where everything would fall into place. He knew he was going to die but wanted to put up a good fight so Neferpitou could understand that he was strong and preserve his brain for the Chimera Ant Queen. Kite knew Gon, seeing him dead, would vow to avenge his death, and in battle, he would attain the adult Gon form and kill Neferpitou.

Hunter x Hunter Refrained From Revealing Kite’s True Potential

Kite was trained by Gon’s father, Ging Freecs. He had a lot of potential, yet Yoshihiro Togashi failed to showcase it for the progression of his protagonist. Kite’s death saw the Hunter x Hunter protagonist betting his nen in exchange for Neferpitou’s life. Kite’s future sight helped him join all the pieces of the puzzle and put up a great end to the Chimera Ant arc.

Since Kite was great at dealing with probabilities, his future sight helped him choose the path with the least casualties. It was great thinking by him at the cost of his life. Unfortunately, the Hunter x Hunter fans might not be able to experience such brilliant moments anymore due to Yoshihiro Togashi’s severe back pain.

He has been taking long breaks from the Hunter x Hunter manga, and a possibility arose that he might not finish it. As a result, he gave away the end scenario of his magnum opus. If only the mangaka had the ability of future sight, he might have chosen a different path.
