Jonathan Majors’ Rumored Kang Replacement Ready to Play Villain in Both Marvel and DC

In 2021, Colman Domingo had a successful year with roles in Without Remorse, The God Committee, and Candyman. In the same year, during an interview with AwardsWatch, he expressed interest in a role in Captain Marvel 2 (The Marvels) if offered by director Nia DaCosta:

“I’ve been part of The Walking Dead universe, but when it comes to Marvel or DC, I’m like, I think I’m ready now. I’m worked out, I’m fit… I think I want to play a villain. I just want to be a villain. I don’t want to be the good guy. I actually want to do some really dirty, nasty work.”

Kang is one of the greatest Avengers threats. He will serve as a primary antagonist of the multiversal saga just like how Thanos served in the Infinity Saga.

He wants to conquer as many timelines as he possibly can. Per He Who Remains, variants of Kang caused the first Multiversal war. So, if Domingo is looking for some really “nasty work” then Kang the Conqueror’s character would be a perfect fit for him.

Although Marvel had already made several re-castings (like Don Cheadle taking over as James Rhodes/War Machine from Terrence Howard and Mark Ruffalo taking over as Bruce Banner/The Hulk from Edward Norton). So, the Sing Sing star has a fat chance of getting cast.

The point here to note is that the actor teased that he is open to playing a villainous character “when it comes to Marvel or DC.” Therefore, it doesn’t matter which universe he will get to feature in, all he cares about is portraying a big bad (after playing the complex character Victor Strand in the AMC series, Fear the Walking Dead).

Plans for Kang in Marvel Studios are in a quandary. They may either find a new actor to play the character or explore different villains for the upcoming Avengers movie.

Scriptwriter Michael Waldron took over the scripting duties of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. So, if the MCU explores other villains in the storyline, then he has to grind the nose to do some heavy rewrites.

Although there’s no detail about other replacements of the character besides Colman Domingo. So, only time will tell what the Studio will think for its head honcho.
