Christian Bale is the closest thing to a real-life shapeshifter. Having starred in a plethora of movies requiring various necessities, Bale has given his all in every film and continues to be better with every film that he is a part of.

Back in the late 1990s, Bale was asked to portray the iconic character of James Bond after Pierce Brosnan’s time. With the indescribable hate that Christian Bale had for the character, he rejected the offer and savagely replied that he had already played the role of a serial killer!

Christian Bale Hated The Character of James Bond

With Pierce Brosnan starring in his penultimate role as James Bond in the 1999 film The World Is Not Enough, the search for a new 007 Agent was on. With numerous actors worthy of the role, Christian Bale was asked to fill for the iconic smoldering agent.

Being British himself the actor has some deep personal hatred for the iconic role. The producer of the franchise Barbara Broccoli stated that the role was Bale’s for the taking. It was The Dark Knight actor who rejected the role by stating his hatred for James Bond. Stating that James Bond represented every stereotypical British person ever, Bale savagely compared Bond to a serial killer!

Bale stated that James Bond represented “every despicable stereotype about England and British actors”. He further added, “I already played a serial killer”, while referring to his iconic role as Patrick Bateman in the 1999 movie American Psycho. Being a man of his word, Bale never became interested in portraying the role of James Bond.

After he became famous for portraying the role of Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, the actor revealed that a fourth Batman movie was pitched to him. The actor outrightly refused the role and stated that he wished to honor Christopher Nolan’s vision of a trilogy.

“Chris had always said to me that if we were fortunate to be able to make three we would stop. ‘Let’s walk away after that,’ he said. Then when they inevitably came to us and said, “How about a No. 4?” I said, “No. We have to stick to Chris’ dream, which was always to, hopefully, do a trilogy. Let’s not stretch too far and become overindulgent and go for a fourth,”

After his rejection, the actor was rudely told that his services were no longer required. The actor is currently attached to one other upcoming project titled The Church of Living Dangerously. The movie is currently in the development stage and does not have a release date attached to it.
