James Gunn brought Guardians Of The Galaxy to a close after overseeing the third and final installment of Peter Quill’s adventure. He also turned a page in his own journey with Marvel for the foreseeable future, as the filmmaker is now in charge of DC Studios.

However, before bowing out, he did a very fine job with Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, which grossed more than $845 million at the box office. In his supposed final mission, Chris Pratt’s Quill rallies his team to save Rocket Raccoon.

The thing about good endings is that it leaves fans in a bittersweet position. Accordingly, the end of the trilogy has already led to fans wondering if they’d ever see Pratt as Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The answer to that remains up in the air. However, they can catch Bradley Cooper’s Racoon and more importantly his much-loved accomplice, Groot in the television series I Am Groot.

How I Am Groot Is Connected to the Guardians Of The Galaxy Franchise? And Is It Worth Watching?

I Am Groot is a series of shorts featuring mischievous toddler Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). And all we have to do as fans is watch him grow and tackle hurdles of his own with the help of his friends and family in the disheveled Guardians of the Galaxy superhero team.

Interestingly, James Gunn has played a part in this Marvel project as well. For the first season – which premiered on Disney+ in August 2022 – he served as Executive Producer. He also helped director Kirsten Lepore shape the star of the show, the cute and very expressive Flora colossus, who’s native to Planet X.

For Guardians Of The Galaxy fans, the mini-series provides a good medium to roll back the clock and get a laugh or two from one of the characters from their favorite trilogy. Talking about the clock, fans will have to go back in time and perhaps forget the events of Volume 3 of the movie to get in tandem with I Am Groot, as Diesel’s show was set in the aftermath of Volume 2.

Season 2 of I Am Groot – which fans can stream now on Disney+ – also picks up from where it left after five episodes in 2022.

While the second season might not be enough on its own for Star Lord’s fans to fill the void left by major Guardians Of The Galaxy characters, it serves as a very fine light-hearted show that does a pretty good job of testing one’s knowledge of MCU by sprinkling well-hidden Easter eggs.

You might want to watch the show before reading further as the following part of the article contains spoilers.

Easter Eggs have always been a big feature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, handing fans an opportunity to not just enjoy the main plot but also unearth hidden details generally linked with the story’s comic book origins. In the I Am Groot Season 2, fans can find plenty of throwback moments from the Guardians Of The Galaxy trilogy.

In the second chapter, the cute but rowdy twig explores the universe and ends up adopting an egg. His attempt at buying an intergalactic ice cream is also no mean feat, at least that’s what Baby Groot’s expressions will tell you.

Amid all these havoc-wreaking antics, we noticed some hidden Easter Eggs. In the first episode, he feeds his newly adopted baby bird by feeding it some of his multicolored candies. These candies are also seen in Volume 2 of the movie during a crash-landing scene on the planet Berhert.

In episode 2, Groot finds a bin full of prosthetics, including the fake leg, which Rocket thought Star-Lord needed for their prison breakout in Volume 1. In episode 3, which is titled Groot’s Snow Day, we hear a voice as he drinks his hot chocolate. That voice is none other than Cooper’s Rocket.

In episode 4, Groot can be seen playing with an action figure. In case you missed it, that was a Nova Corps officer with the peacekeepers, which first featured in the first installment of GOTG.
