Oda is admired by both fans and writers alike for his dedication to developing One Piece. Monkey D. Luffy’s story was supposed to have ended years ago but the mangaka developed several backstories and subplots, while also comprising his family life, to cater to the readers. The unfinished chapter may have tainted his consistency streak but it isn’t disconcerting for fans, who have long been aware of the mangaka’s hardships.

When Will One Piece Chapter 1099 Be Released?

Jewelry Bonney

One Piece Chapter 1099 is slated to release on November 27, 2023, at 12 AM JST. Given that it went into a break this week, the upcoming chapter is expected to contain more pages detailing the background of Bonney and Monkey D. Dragon. Fans interested in reading the Shonen series require a Shonen Jump subscription.

In the previous chapter, Bartholomew Kuma learned that his beloved comrade, Ginny, was forced into marriage by a noble of the World Government. She died before entrusting the responsibility for her daughter, Jewelry Bonney, to Kuma. Ginny suffered from an incurable disease that was transmitted to Bonney upon birth.

Bonney is suffering from a condition called ‘Sapphire Scales.’ The manga shows how the young Bonney was ostracized from the community because of the sapphire-like lumps on her skin, with children calling her ‘vampire’ for not being able to be exposed to sunlight. Kuma and Jewelry Bonney’s backstory is considered one of the darkest, in a literal sense, and the theme may continue improving as Oda gets serious about the Egghead Arc.
