Michael Fassbender was on a long break from action for four years, much to the disappointment of his many fans. An actor by profession, he was apparently too wound up in his love for the sport of motor racing. His last appearance was in the movie X-Men: Dark Phoenix back in 2019.

He has since made his way back to the land of Hollywood by starring in the thriller, The Killer, and will next be seen in the sports comedy Next Goal Wins. However, prior to this, he was busy enjoying his obsession with the sport of motor racing.

The actor recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show, (via The Daily Mail) and stated,

“It’s an obsession and feels so right as I have no affinity with any other sport. I am super addicted, and I want to go back and do Le Mans again – it was extraordinary.”

Although it is not Formula Racing but rather Endurance Racing, he enjoys the activity greatly. He also revealed that he had always wanted to race, but never thought he’d be racing in real cars but rather go-karts.

Fortunately for him, a chance encounter with the actor Patrick Dempsey introduced him to Porsche and inevitably led him to take a four-year acting break.

Although Michael Fassbender is done with motor racing as it was last season, he holds great love for the sport. While on The Graham Norton Show he revealed the real reason why he enjoys the sport so much,

“It’s not the speed necessarily… In the beginning, it feels fast but when you get in the car then you just adjust… it’s just nice to get into a place where you’re just not thinking.”

Despite having had many accidents, the actor wasn’t deterred by them or the risks associated with the sport. Instead, he maintains that the gradual process of picking up speed and not having anything else to think or focus on made him feel love the sport.
