Matt Damon has been earning the big bucks in Hollywood for quite a long time now. Having been ranked among Forbes’ most bankable stars, almost all of the films that he has starred in since, Good Will Hunting, have gained some recognition or the other, even featuring in a successful franchise or two. From drama to comedy, action, thriller, and even some romance here or there, Damon has truly featured in all corners of the film industry.
This, of course, did not come out of nowhere, as the actor worked extremely hard for all that he has achieved today, having recently starred in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. During an interview for this film, the actor was asked, alongside his co-stars Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt, what each of them did with the first paycheck they got from their first jobs. While Murphy and Blunt’s answers were more realistic, Damon’s was a lot more selfless.
Matt Damon Spent His First Paycheck on His Mother and Brother
Matt Damon was giving an interview with The Hollywood Reporter with Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt for their recent film, Oppenheimer. Here, the three were asked how they spent their first paycheck that they got from their first job. Damon went first, explaining that he had earned a $25,000 paycheck from his 1990 film, Rising Son.
“I bought my brother a car and put my mom through her Ph.D. program,” Damon said in the interview. “And that was a really cool feeling.”
He decided that he would spend the money for the betterment of his family. Starting with his brother, Kyle Damon, the actor bought him a car. He then helped out his mother, helping pay for her Ph.D. program. He added that doing this and being able to help and provide for his family felt really good to him.

What Did Emily Blunt And Cillian Murphy Do With Their First Paychecks?
It was then Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy’s turns to reveal what they did with their first paychecks, and while it wasn’t as selfless as Matt Damon’s, it was certainly very significant in their own lives. Murphy revealed that he bought a sound system for himself. He added that he is sure that it was not a record player as, though they are quite in frequently seen now, times were different when he bought his.
“I think I bought like a record player—or a sound system, cause record players weren’t as cool as they are now, were they?” Murphy told.
Blunt, on the other hand, did something much more meaningful with her first paycheck. The actress revealed that she used her first paycheck to move out of her parents’ home and get a place for herself. She used the money she earned to rent her first apartment, as this was one of her biggest priorities at the time.
