Zendaya, the iconic actress with a plethora of movies to her name, has found worldwide love and fame for her roles. From starring in Spider-Man: No Way Home to tagging alongside Chalamet in the Dune franchise, Zendaya has come a long way.
But with these massive movies by her side, none of them were able to break a record for Zendaya that Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers did. Being an iconic movie about friendship, lust, tennis, and, romance, Zendaya finally broke an iconic record.
Zendaya Broke One Iconic Record With Challengers
Starring alongside Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor, Challengers sees the story of three friends with complex feelings and a love for tennis that intertwines in the future. With the brilliancy in directing by director Luca Guadagnino, the film is doing good in theaters.
On the other hand, Zendaya is portraying a lead role in the film. Before Challengers, Zendaya portrayed a plethora of roles across various movies. She has, however, never been the lead character before. Being a sidekick or the love interest of a hero, the Euphoria actress has portrayed a lead role for the first time in her career.
For the record, Zendaya was the lead character in HBO’s Euphoria but that doesn’t count since it’s a series. But with Challengers, a film that received mixed reviews upon its trailer release, she has broken a personal record. On the other hand, the Dune star also talked about her love for being an actress.
Zendaya Would Love To Be An Actress In Her Old Age
In an interview (via The Hindu), Zendaya talked about how she chose a brilliant career for herself. Talking about the perks of acting, the actress revealed that she could do this job as long as she wanted to and no one could stop her from acting.
“I’m grateful that I picked a career that I can keep doing for as long as I want to. I can be 80 years old and still be making movies if I get lucky enough to be able to or if that’s something I still want to be do then,”
She further continued,
“I can’t imagine that idea of that life or thing that makes you happy or gives you power being ripped away from you. I deeply empathize with that.”
Well, it seems that the world wouldn’t mind looking at an old Zendaya starring in a remake of a 2020s movie when she’s 80 years old. With her film being recently released, Challengers sits at rating of 7.8/10 on IMDB and a whopping 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The 2024 film is screening in theaters across the world.
