Running into the President of the United States of America is not a regular thing for anyone. But when Margot Robbie had this experience, she and her husband faced one of the most embarrassing situations. The Barbie actress and Tom Ackerly did not expect to run into someone like the former US President, Barack Obama on their honeymoon trip.
What worsened the situation, even more, was the outright wrong choice of outfit by Ackerly. Neither did Margot Robbie nor her husband expect to run into people of such stature during their honeymoon. What was supposed to be a sweet surprise turned out to be one hell of a shocker for the two.
The incident Margot Robbie’s husband wants to forget forever
The Harley Quinn fame is associated with some of the biggest projects in Hollywood. Margot Robbie met her husband Tom Ackerly on the set of Suite Française in 2013. Even though she has never been very vocal about her personal life, TheEllenShow revealed one of the most embarrassing encounters of her life.
When the Suicide Squad actress came to Ellen DeGeneres’ show for the first time, a hilarious revelation was made by her. The host revealed how she met Robbie with her husband back when the former was on her honeymoon. Margot Robbie couldn’t hold her laughter as she stated how her husband wore hilariously tiny shorts in front of Barack Obama.
As the story goes, Robbie already warned Ackerly not to wear such a problematic outfit while going to the gym which the producer denied hard- “Who are we going to run into? Who’s gonna be here?”.
“We get changed to go to the gym and Tom puts on these shorts that are like, his oldest gym shorts, and they’re tiny. And they’re like really short and there’s nothing underneath. I was like, ‘Babe, you cannot wear those shorts … I can see everything.'”
But things took a sharp turn South as there was not one but some of the most renowned names out of which one was the former US President himself.
“And so we walk into the gym, and running on a treadmill is Ellen. And then on the treadmill next to her is Portia, her wife. That’s not even the best bit, but already Tom and I are like, ‘Oh my God.’ And Tom’s face has like just gone white. And standing next to them is former President Barack Obama … I’m not kidding — in a gym that’s tiny.”

The series of nightmares didn’t stop for Margot Robbie and her partner as the couple also had to attend a stretching class with all those who were present there. It led Tom Ackerly to face one of the most challenging tasks of his life.
How did the situation worsen for Tom Ackerly?
Margot Robbie continued to laugh while describing what she called one of her most favorite and hilarious moments of life. The Babylon star admitted that Ackerly almost died from within trying to guard his private part while stretching.
“It was a very confined space, and we then had to do this whole, like — we had to do this stretching class and Tom meanwhile is trying to like, not reveal anything. And he’s dying and I’m crying so much, I’m about to crack a rib”
Reportedly, the gym instructor was also urging the I, Tonya producer to do his tasks properly. The British producer had to use a towel to safeguard his crotch during the last part and by that moment he was also out of his will to survive anymore.
“We literally got to the end of the class and we’re doing like a last stretch, which was legs out like this. And Tom’s now got a towel on his crotch, trying to be modest and his face just says it all. He’s like, ‘I’m gonna kill myself, this is the worst day of my life.'”
DeGeneres also added that it was one of the worst decisions for Tom Ackerly. She also gifted Margot Robbie a pair of big Ellen-branded shorts. But on the positive side, the Oscar-nominated actress also got to know from Obama that he was a fan of her works.
