Ryan Reynolds’ latest comment on the identity of Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine has strengthened one fan suspicion. When asked if his wife Blake Lively was playing the role, Reynolds simply responded that he couldn’t afford her. Fans believed that it was a lie and they could now almost confirm that Lady Deadpool is Lively.
Rumors also suggested that Taylor Swift could be playing the role in the movie. Swift, a friend of Reynolds and Lively, was rumored to appear in a role in the film when she was seen in the company of the couple, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy last year. However, recent reports have largely debunked that rumor.
Ryan Reynolds Plays Coy When Asked If Blake Lively Is Playing Lady Deadpool
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are one of the most celebrated couples in Hollywood, mostly owing to their massive social media presence. They first met on the set of Green Lantern and have been married since 2012. Fans speculate that the couple might work together again in the upcoming Marvel movie, Deadpool & Wolverine.
Fans believe that Lively is playing Lady Deadpool in the film, an alternate reality version of Reynolds’ character. When the Free Guy actor appeared alongside Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman for an interview with Phase Zero, he was asked about the rumors. The interviewer asked whether his other best friend apart from Jackman was a part of the movie, referring to his wife.
Reynolds had a funny response to the question, saying, “She’s not half the friend Hugh is.” Jackman too jokingly agreed with him, saying that their relationship pre-dated the one Reynolds had with his wife. However, the Red Notice actor answered the question, sharing that he would love to work with his wife, but added that he couldn’t afford her fee. Reynolds shared:
I’d love to work with Blake, I’d love that. I can’t afford her fee but I would love that.
Fans on X claimed that they could see through the actor’s lie. Many fans shared that they now knew for sure that Lively was playing the character. One fan shared that he was acting as if viewers weren’t going to see her in theaters in four days. The Deadpool & Wolverine teasers and trailers did a great job of introducing Lady Deadpool. The first one showed her walking, with a closeup only to her legs. The latter one revealed her body and included the hint that the character was blonde. The final trailer revealed her fully, only for fans to find the character wearing a mask.
Ryan Reynolds Can Confirm One Thing About Lady Deadpool
Ryan Reynolds is secretly reading all the fan theories online because one fan theory completely caught him off-guard. During an interview with Access Hollywood, Reynolds addressed a popular theory about Lady Deadpool which said that he is playing the character in the movie. While it felt like something that Reynolds would resort to as a prank, he could confirm that it was not the case.
He shared that he didn’t have that hips or couldn’t do that walk even if that meant saving his life. He also added that his shoulders were too broad to fit into the suit shown in the trailers. Reynolds told Access Hollywood:
I love listening to the conspiracy theories about who it could be, and my favorite one that traveled quite a bit was they think it was me. I don’t know how I could do that with my hips, I cannot walk like that to save my life. My shoulders are absurdly broad for a suit like that, so no, it is not me.
It’s a huge relief for fans that he cleared that up. Meanwhile, Dafne Keen‘s lies about not appearing in the film have made fans suspicious about what other things Reynolds & co. are hiding.
