4 years ago, director Sam Raimi took to Reddit while promoting The Grudge (which he produced), and gave an “Ask Me Anything” to the audience. One fan asked the director why he was so eager to cast John Malkovich as The Vulture. Sam Raimi’s answer revealed that Malkovich was such a terrifying actor that Raimi felt terror for Peter Parker’s safety!
“Because he’s such a powerful actor. I could fear him and worry for Peter Parker. And it’s just the craft of casting. Basically it boils down to this : I believe that he could be that guy.”
With movies like Con Air and Red to his name, Malkovich is also the director of the short film 100 Years which is set for a release date of 2115! Tobey Maguire, in a separate interview, was also praising director Sam Raimi and how they have a fun duo that they love!

With 3 movies to the duo’s name, Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi created history with the Spider-Man franchise. In an interview clip that resurfaced on X, Tobey Maguire talked about how much he loved working with Raimi and how they had a fun banter dynamic.
“Sam Raimi and myself, we have certain banter and dynamic that’s fun and funny and I love collaborating with him. There’s some familiarity that I love and also I like the new one, ‘Okay how do we make it more exciting, more fun, and more rich’. Yeah so I appreciate that too. I have fun with those movies, I really do.”
