Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki has surely come a long way since her first comedy movie, A Few Best Men, in 2011. While the actress had been the talk of the town, she gained major fame when she took on the role of Princess Diana in the Netflix original political drama The Crown.
Soon enough, she caught the eye of James Gunn, who got her on board for his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) and Vol. 3 (2023) as Ayesha, a high priestess of an alien race known as the Sovereign.
While this collaboration minted two successful movies, Debicki now reveals her entire experience working under the visionary filmmaker James Gunn.

Working for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a wonderful experience; however, it was not the first thing Tenet actress Elizabeth Debicki observed about the superhero flick. During an interview with Perri Nemiroff for Collider Ladies Night, the actress talked about working under the direction of James Gunn.
Further, she shared some eye-opening and fascinating insights about the makings and on-set activities of the blockbuster movie, which continues to surprise many people.
When questioned about her biggest misconception about the making of an MCU movie, the actress responded that many of the things she assumed were not real were actually real and added:
I think that that’s because I made Guardians of the Galaxy with James Gunn. I haven’t made any other Marvel films, but, for instance, I couldn’t believe how much of the set is built.
Elizabeth Debicki went on to highlight the minimal use of CGI on actors, which surprised her given that this was a superhero movie, and added:
Once I found out my skin was gold, I thought, ‘Okay, but maybe we’ll just CGI it.’ It’s so muscular the way that James makes those films. People are really zipping around on harnesses, and the set is built, and everyone really looks like that
Elizabeth Debicki’s complimentary words for filmmaker James Gunn act as an omen for the upcoming Superman: Legacy. Given the little usage of CGI, there is a sense of excitement that the filmmaker may do the same with the upcoming David Corenswet starrer to make it more credible and realistic for the audience.
James Gunn denied a major Elizabeth Debicki rumour
The DC universe is undergoing a massive transformation under the guidance of James Gunn and Peter Safran. So, once Gunn finalized the roles of Superman (David Corenswet) and Supergirl (Milly Alcock), everyone was waiting to see who he would cast as the Amazonian heroine Wonder Woman.
Soon, the rumor mill started churning out that Elizabeth Debicki had been finalized for the role. However, soon, these gossips were shut down by the director himself.
A fan questioned Gunn on Threads if the Debicki rumors are true or not, to which Gunn responded:
This is coming from a site that’s just making up a bunch of stuff. I love working with Elizabeth, but I’ve never even had this thought.
The Amazonian heroine has sparked a lot of conjecture and anticipation, especially because Gal Gadot previously played the part. While Gunn dismissed the Elizabeth Debicki rumors, it will be intriguing to see who eventually takes over the character.
