The next time we see Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, it is going to look like Liam Hemsworth. While we do not know yet how the actor would portray fans’ favorite character, one thing is for certain: we are all going to miss watching Henry Cavill in the role. Luckily, we have three whole seasons to re-watch over and over again before season four comes out.

Fans very recently saw the last of Henry Cavill in the action-packed The Witcher season three. While he walks off into the sunset, his co-actors remain behind. It was surely difficult for them to say goodbye to Henry Cavill who they have been working with for so long. However, the actors had to go through yet another distress while filming season 3. And this time the agony was physical.

Actors do not always get to shoot in the warm and cozy temperatures of their sets. Sometimes, they have to go out of their comfort zone and step into places that are just too painful to shoot in. The cast of The Witcher is no stranger to this.

In the first episode of season 3, Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra’s characters (Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer) were seen laying low in a snowy landscape as mountains surrounded them and a lake of freezing water went past them. The actors had to film the scene in the freezing temperatures of Slovenia.

Needless to say, it was not pleasant to act in those low temperatures and the actresses definitely agree. During an interview with The Digital Fix, Allan and Chalotra describe how it got too intense to bear and they ended up breaking down on set.

“Chalotra: Yeah, it was cold. We were in Slovenia shooting. It was very cold, and on the second day of shooting I remember bawling my eyes out because I couldn’t feel my feet, so that was when my journey began this season.

Allan: I remember bawling my eyes out too because I was like, ‘This is just too much!’

After struggling with the freezing temperatures, Allan’s character, Ciri, found herself in the wasteland of the Korath desert in episode seven, Out of the Fire, Into the Frying Pan. The actress opened up about just how much of a challenge it was to shoot the scenes in the burning temperatures of a Moroccan desert. In another interview with The Digital Fix, she stated,

It was such a big challenge. And I think when you get to say you’ve done it, it does give you a new kind of strength. We were battling with 45 degrees. It was genuinely a challenge for me, not just Ciri.”

Speaking about this with Numero Magazine, Allan stated that this shoot in particular truly made her feel like she was part of a team who looked out for each other. Talking about the most memorable part of filming season 3, she said,

“It’s got to be shooting in Morocco for episode 307…It also felt like a team more so than ever with the crew, we really looked out for each other. We were shooting in 47 degrees Celsius. The memories of getting back to the hotel and all having a beer, going, ‘We got through today,’ are some of the best memories.”

Kudos to these actors for going through all kinds of situations just for the sake of entertaining their fans with such raw acting!
