Phoebe Waller-Bridge is an iconic actress known for projects like Fleabag, Crashing, and, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The actress/writer was also attached to the recently released series Mr. & Mrs. Smith but she backed out quite shortly.
Francesca Sloane, who is the co-creator of the series alongside Donald Glover, talked about Waller-Bridge’s exit. Stating how she is a legend, Sloane had no remarks other than complimenting Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge Is A Legend
Mr. & Mrs. Smith has been receiving rave reviews around the world and Phoebe Waller-Bridge had some hand in it. Being one of the co-creators of the show alongside Donald Glover, Waller-Bridge quit the series in a short amount of time.
During that time, the current co-creator of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Francesca Sloane had quite a bond with the actress. In an interview with IndieWire, Sloane talked about how the Fleabag creator is a legend but the reason she left the series.
“I mean, Phoebe is a legend. It was actually really inspiring to get to know her and work with her [in] the period of time that we did. Donald and I really had such a distinct vision for the show; We knew at once we wanted it to be this relationship show.”
She further continued,
“But we could never fully pin down Jane. We knew we wanted her to be withholding and cagey and that John’s this golden retriever and Jane supposed to be this slick cat and how does that play with each other? But I couldn’t see her yet. And when Maya came into play, suddenly, Jane made sense.”
Although Waller-Bridge left the series, the actress has had other incredible projects over the years. In an interview, the Killing Eve writer talked about how acting is just pretending even though she wanted to do it since her teenage years!
Phoebe Waller-Bridge Feels Acting Is Just Pretending!
Starring alongside Andrew Scott (from Sherlock fame), Phoebe Waller-Bridge starred and created the iconic show Fleabag which received worldwide fame. Although she is one of the finest actors out there, she revealed to The Guardian that she feels that acting is just pretending!
“I remember being a teenager and saying, ‘Oh, I want to be an actress when I grow up.’ And people saying, ‘You need to be a good liar – are you a good liar?’ It really pissed me off, that idea. Because in some ways you have to be able to pretend, as a writer and as a performer, that the truth of that character is your truth in that moment. But there’s also no getting away from the fact that it is pretend.”
The actress was last seen alongside Harrison Ford in the 2023 film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and is currently associated with three other upcoming projects. On the other hand, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the series almost co-created by Waller-Bridge, is available to stream on Prime Video in the U.S.
