Jennifer Lawrence has etched her place in the hearts of millions with her incredible talent, refreshingly down-to-earth personality, her chatty persona, and her way of speaking her mind. The actress further became a renowned personality following her role in Silver Linings Playbook, which earned her an Academy Award.
However, this Oscar-winning opportunity later turned into an ongoing joke among her Hunger Games co-stars whenever Jennifer Lawrence forgot her lines. But, among all, it was The Batman actor, Jeffrey Wright who severely regretted playing a practical joke on Lawrence that went horribly wrong.
The Hunger Games Co-stars Teased Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscar Win
Appearing in acclaimed filmmaker David O Russell’s comedy-drama Silver Linings Playbook, alongside Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence bagged an Academy Award for Best Actress. However, following her Oscar win, when Lawrence returned to the set of her renowned franchise The Hunger Games, to shoot the blockbuster dystopian action movie sequel, the actress faced some teasing from her co-stars.
According to The Guardian, Jennifer Lawrence became the epicenter of ongoing jokes on the set of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Apparently, whenever the actress forgot her lines, her co-star Woody Harrelson would tease her to give her Oscar back. Josh Hutcherson revealed how the actors on set would pull her leg from time to time.
“Every time she would forget a line, Woody would go: ‘Oh, better give that Oscar back!’ She was already a pretty big target, but after the Oscar, she was an even bigger target. But no, she didn’t change at all.”
However, while most stars teased Jennifer Lawrence, there was this one actor from the set of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, who mentioned playing a practical joke on her. But, unfortunately, the joke went horribly wrong and he regretted doing it.
Jeffrey Wright Regretted Playing Practical Joke On The Oscar Winner
Well, it’s none other than Jeffrey Wright, who played a notorious practical joke on Jennifer Lawrence. According to The Guardian, the 57-year-old actor who portrayed James “Jim” Gordon in Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022) revealed how his practical joke on the actress apparently backfired on him, devastatingly.
Jeffrey Wright mentioned gifting the actress a Liberty box filled with 200 crickets, on the night she won the Oscar. However, while stuffing the box with the bugs, a few spilled in his hotel room, which ended up troubling him for days. Getting sleepless nights when his joke went horribly wrong, Wright mentioned regretting his decision.
“When Jennifer won the Oscar I gave her a gift of a Liberty box, filled with 200 crickets. What I didn’t calculate was that when you fill a box with 200 crickets, many of them spill out in your hotel room, and hop under your bed and behind your dresser. So I couldn’t sleep for about a week with the sound of these crickets.”
Despite all the teasing as jokes that were played on Jennifer Lawrence, the actress took everything sportingly and enjoyed her time on the set of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
