Clint Eastwood Believes that Tom Cruise is the Best Actor of the Current Generation

Though this cannot be predicted, Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., Daniel Day-Lewis, and Leonardo DiCaprio would certainly be possible contenders for this. During an interview, the Jerry Maguire director, Cameron Crowe, talked about quite an interesting interaction he had with Clint Eastwood regarding this subject. It would seem that Eastwood does not think it would be any of these A-listers.
“Clint Eastwood said, ‘100 years from now and more, people will look back on this generation of films, and the guy who will stand out more than anyone else will be Tom Cruise.'” He added, “Coming from Clint Eastwood, like, a foot-and-a-half away from you telling you that, I couldn’t wait to tell Tom that.”
Eastwood believes that the Top Gun: Maverick star, Tom Cruise will have his name set in stone for centuries to follow. He believes that his performances and his work stand out in a way no others do. After hearing this, Crowe was quite excited to tell Cruise about the honor he has just received.
Cameron Crowe Agrees With Clint Eastwood’s Opinion About Tom Cruise
During this interview, Cameron Crowe also added that he could not agree with Clint Eastwood more. Crowe, who has worked with Tom Cruise on Vanilla Sky and Jerry Maguire, went on to say that though many actors could potentially come close, Cruise sets a standard that makes his movies unique and timeless.
“I think it’s true. You could create an argument for a number of other actors, but I don’t know anyone who’s built this kind of body of work in movies that will stand the test of time, and I would be honored if one of our movies was a part of that.” He said, “He’s done so many different, time-defining projects.”
He goes on by saying that Cruise’s work could easily withstand’ the test of time and he is honored to have been part of his journey. He also added that Cruise’s acting is so diverse and impeccable that no one can even match his capabilities.
