Saxophonist and activist, María Elena Ríos, recently accused Huerta of s*xual abuse in a series of tweets. But the actor was quick to put out his side of the story as he took to social media to deem the accusations false. Tenoch Huerta stated that he was in a relationship with the activist and that everything that happened between them was completely consensual.

“About a year ago, I dated Elena for several months. It was entirely consensual at all times, as countless others can attest. And throughout it was a loving, warm and mutually supportive relationship. After it ended, however, Elena began to misrepresent our interactions both privately and in front of groups of mutual friends.”

Huerta then stated that because of this, he had to gather a legal team as the “irresponsible and false accusations” can cause “great prejudice and damage” to his character. Dismissing Ríos’ claims, Huerta stated that while he is not perfect and is continuously improving himself, “the allegations are simply untrue.” He added that he needs to “contest claims that are both false and offensive.”

He ended the statement by showing gratitude to his family, friends, and his supporters. Huerta also stated that he “greatly appreciates” people who are willing to look at facts before they jump to unfair conclusions. Ríos has not replied to Huerta’s statement just yet.

On Twitter, Ríos accused Poder Prieto, an organization that Huerto is part of, of publishing material that they did not have authorization over. While the company also denied the allegations in a tweet, Ríos replied that she had made it clear the company should not publish anything about her. In the same tweet, she calls Huerta a “violator and s*xual predator.”

Ríos continued the series of tweets by stating that it is not easy talking about the abuse of power of a “s*xual predator who is loved in the world for playing a character in a movie.” Ríos also stated that she is neither doing this for fame or money.

Owing to this, it cannot be said with certainty whether Huerta will reprise his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or not. Media outlets have tried to reach a representative of the Studio for a statement, they are yet to respond.
