Jennifer Lawrence Went Deaf While Filming the Hunger Games

Jennifer Lawrence is no stranger to accidents. Her most iconic Oscars fall, some of her edits regarding her screaming and simply enjoying life as time flows around her. Her clumsiness is a part of her personality, something fans simply adore. However, it can prove to be dangerous from time to time. While speaking with Empire, she revealed just how badly she got injured while filming the Hunger Games franchise.

“In the first one I ran into a wall, but that was during training. Once we got into filming, there were no more bizarre injuries. In this one, I went deaf for a week, and yep, I’m still having ear problems, so that’s cool.”

The actress admitted that the first film saw her running into a wall during training, having a rather bizarre incident in the way. Although she added that while filming she could avoid all of that. However, it was during the filming of Catching Fire that things got worse. Lawrence ended up going deaf for an entire week, even leading her to have problems in her ears for a while afterward.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Stunt Caused her to go Deaf

While speaking with Empire, the actress further explained as to how consecutive stunts in the water caused her to get a rather dangerous ear infection. That only escalated to her going deaf for an entire week. Although, she chose against going to the doctor because she did not think it to be that big of a deal.

“First, I had to jump into stagnant water for a stunt, which caused a double ear infection. Then I had to jump into water jets, and one jet went into my ear, making a ‘PSHYOOOOOV!’ noise, which made me deaf for a week. But I didn’t go to the doctor…because I’m a genius.”

This left a somewhat lasting consequence where she found a ringing noise whenever she yawned. She did consider going to the doctor later on because of how painful it got.
