The Netflix live-action adaptation of the popular anime series One Piece has taken the industry by storm and has proven to be a resounding success. Iñaki Godoy, the Mexican actor who plays the character of Monkey D. Luffy, wanted to talk about his debut in the series, a moment of immense emotion that entirely transformed his life on social media.
Godoy shared photographs from his time on One Piece season 1 on Instagram, writing reflectively about his time on the show now that the actor’s strike has been called off.
In the post, the actor revealed behind-the-scenes photos and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play the live-action Luffy. Godoy reflected on the moment he first donned Luffy’s signature straw hat, expressing his initial apprehension as well as the enormous emotions that followed this momentous occasion.
Iñaki Godoy Shares an Emotional Message
While talking about the success of One Piece Live-Action on Instagram, Godoy talked about the moment when he didn’t know what to expect at all and he just followed Luffy’s actions. He said:
“This is it, the moment in which I put on Luffy’s straw hat for the first time. I didn’t know what to expect at all, I just knew that I would move forward with courage and passion as Luffy would. Now, more than a year after that picture was taken, I can confidently say @onepiecenetflix is a huge part of who I am, not just as an actor, but as a person. It gave me new friends that I will hold close to my heart forever, a stronger will to act with bravery in difficult situations, and most importantly, it reminded me of my own dreams and why I should never give up on them.”
Godoy also talked about the new friends he made during his journey, how he was able to fulfill his dream, and how One Piece became a huge part of who he is.
Luffy Makes Iñaki Godoy The Best Version of Himself
Godoy while expressing his gratitude for the success of One Piece live-action also stated how Luffy has helped him and pushed him to become the best version of himself. He also explained how it changed his life in so many ways. He said:
“Just like a lot of you, Luffy and One Piece pushes me to be the best version of myself, and It has changed my life in many ways. I’m so grateful that I get to be your live-action Luffy, and It makes me happy that more people around the world can get to know this super awesome captain and his crew.”
Godoy expressed his gratitude for getting the chance to play Luffy and he feels satisfied that he will be able to showcase Luffy’s adventure to everyone around the world.
