In an interviewThe Queen’s Gambit actress talked about how she wanted to break a common women trope of sitting in silence as a single tear rolls down the cheek. Having an interest in feminine rage, Taylor-Joy pulled the director aside and told him to change the scene and instead have her character violently attack Nicholas Hoult.

“And I’m like, ‘Oh, no, no, no. We get mad and angry. I remember pulling Mark [The Menu’s director] aside and saying, ‘I’m really sorry, but the only way to play this truthfully is for me to attack him.’”

Not only Nicholas Hoult but the cast of The Menu also had to suffer a lot since the food that was shown in the movie was all prop food…except the burger that she ate at the end of The Menu and the cast was hungry.

During the finale of the movie, Anya Taylor-Joy asks Ralph Fiennes if she could have an American cheeseburger as her meal. Being touched by the request and finding his love for food again, the chef gladly makes it for her and Taylor-Joy savors it and then requests him to pack the rest.

Turns out, all the exquisite food dishes shown in the movie were prop food and the burger that Taylor-Joy was eating was real. Looking at her savoring the American delicacy, the cast became quite hungry while shooting the scene. Co-star John Leguizamo later ordered burgers and fries for the entire cast of the film.
