Matt Damon has maintained a stable relationship between his personal and professional life. The actor has been a beloved figure on and off screen juggling between a successful acting career and having a happy and stable family life. Amidst the many breakups and divorces going on around Hollywood, he and his family have been able to navigate the ups and downs of life and continue to strive and prosper against any obstacles life throws at them. Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso have been the ideal power couple of Hollywood that inspire each other to be better and help each other remain grounded and happy when work gets chaotic and cumbersome.
Both of them have told their almost fairytale-like first meeting in a bar that convinced each other that they were perfect for each other. Damon has time and again expressed his love and adoration for his wife and how she has helped him stay sane and happy as a working actor in Hollywood.
Matt Damon Didn’t Believe He’d Settle Down In Life Until He Met His Wife
Matt Damon talked about how the prospect of marriage was something that he didn’t believe would happen to him. He never thought he would get a soulmate like his brother did until he met his wife. He told The Hollywood Reporter,
“I remember thinking, in my early 30s, that I wouldn’t [get married], you know?” he reflects. “I didn’t think it was going to happen for me. My brother found his soul mate very young; he’d just turned 26 when they were married. He’d been married for 10 years by the time I even met my wife, and I looked at this really happy, wonderful marriage and kind of went, ‘I guess that’s not going to happen for me.’ And then it did.”
Damon seems to be grateful to fate and circumstance that has led to him meeting his wife. He told Ellen DeGeneres (on YouTube),
“We were supposed to shoot in Hawaii, and then the movie got moved to Miami. . . . I had never really hung out in Miami. I literally saw her across a crowded room, literally. Eight years and four kids later, that’s my life. I don’t know how else our paths would’ve crossed if that didn’t happen. If all those things didn’t happen”
Damon’s love and respect for his wife is inspiring. He is grateful to her for bringing him a huge purpose in his life in addition to the desire of wanting to start a family. Their immense love, care, and respect for each other is the driving force of why their bond as a family seems to be getting stronger with each passing year.
Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso’s First Meeting Was Like a Cinematic Rom-Com
Luciana Barosso exclusively opened up about his first meeting with her husband Matt Damon in a bar where she worked as a bartender. She told Vogue,
I was working as a bartender in South Beach (Miami) and he was shooting a movie there and the crew ended up in the bar one Saturday night… Matt’s story is that he saw me across the room and there was a light on me. And I’m like: ‘yeah it was a nightclub – there were lights everywhere! But he had started getting recognized and asked for pictures and autographs, and then it got kind of aggressive because people are drinking and stuff, and so he came and hid behind my bar [wanting to] just hang out back there and have a drink.
He says ‘oh I saw you and I really wanted to talk to you’. So I put him to work with me! I said: ‘you know, if you’re going to be back here, you can’t just be standing there!’ He had trained as a bartender for a film years before, so he started making drinks. And he made me a ton of money in tips that night, because of course everyone wanted to go and see him. So it turned into a really fun night and then 15 years later here we are!”
Damon is currently enjoying the huge success of his film Oppenheimer. He is among the ensemble cast of John Krasinski’s fantasy comedy IF. He will lead the upcoming heist thriller film The Instigators, directed by Doug Liman alongside Casey Affleck.
