Tom Hardy has always been a fabulous actor. Pushing himself to his limits just to make his character seem as real as possible, the Venom actor has proved repeatedly that he is worth all the love and respect that he gets. It takes a lot to endure painful situations while acting, and Hardy lives up to prove that he is one to bear with it, irrespective of how hard it gets. And the 45-year-old actor has justified this while filming for his Al Capone biopic movie, Capone (2020).

The 2020 biopic Capone was directed by none other than the Fantastic Four (2015) director Josh Trank and starred Tom Hardy as Al Capone, the main lead and a gangster, and Tilda Del Toro as Mona Lisa, who is one of Capone’s ex-lovers and the mother of his illegitimate child.

During the shooting of the movie, there were scenes where Mona Lisa had to be violent towards Capone, and it was in these scenes that Del Toro displayed just how aggressive she can be. Recounting the time when she slapped and pushed Hardy for the scenes, she said,

“I came in and pulled Tom towards me and slapped him and then I pushed him on the couch. The couch was a little lighter than in the scene because it was a production couch and it flew all the way back! We kept doing the scene and then Josh yelled ‘Cut!’”

While filming the scenes made the actress realize her strength, her aggressiveness on the other hand was what made Trank scared of Del Toro. After silence following his command, the Marvel director said,

“Tilda, I do NOT want to mess with you!”

Displaying his commitment to his role and the movie, Tom Hardy agreed to bear with Tilda Del Toro’s painful attacks and even the contact lenses just to portray his character in the best possible way. Recalling Hardy’s reaction to her hitting him in reality, Del Toro said,

“He was okay with it! After that, he would say, ‘It’s okay, you can slap me.’ People don’t realise how hard prosthetics are on actors and his eyes were hurting him a lot because he had these contacts on. So I definitely felt bad for him. He [was] very willing to go the whole way and I guess so was I! He’s so kind and was so kind about it.”

Furthermore, she also praised the Venom star for showcasing such humbleness and kindness on sets to her and everyone else, saying,

“That was a great experience. He [Tom Hardy] was extremely professional, respectful, very aware, and fully present. Tom was giving as an actor and really engaged in the work. He was very kind to me. I felt like he was very confident and when he needed to deal with something specific he did.”

Although the movie didn’t receive the best rankings required to make it an A-lister, Tom Hardy’s professionalism and Tilda Del Toro’s perfect portrayal of her character were worth applauding.

You can watch Capone on Netflix.
