Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan’s Fifty Shades trilogy has a separate fan base of its own. Adapted from the extremely popular novel series of the same name by E.L. James, the films might not be the best when it comes to the story, but they did make a combined total of $1.3 billion at the box office.

Well, we are going to go out on a limb and say that the success of the films was made possible all thanks to the steamy scenes between Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia Steele. However, there are many celebrities in Hollywood who do not agree with nudity in the film, including Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep.

Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep are two of the most iconic celebrities in the industry and thus, their opinions sure hold some strong value. Page Six took the liberty to accumulate some celebrities’ opinions on the nudity seen in films like the Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan-starrer and let’s just say that Roberts and Streep did not hold back.

Roberts stated that when people act without their clothes on, they are simply acting in a documentary, not a movie. The Pretty Woman actress took a firm stand against nudity in films.

“I’m really against nudity in movies. Acting with clothing on is a performance. Clothing off, it’s a documentary. I don’t do documentaries.”

As for Streep, who has done countless legendary films in her career, including The Devil Wears Prada, stated,

“I don’t exercise and don’t feel the need to stay in shape because I don’t take my clothes off in movies.”

Even Tom Hanks, the Mr. Nice Guy of Hollywood had a few harsh words to spare for films that incorporate nudity to such extent on the screen. He downright condemned it and stated that there is no place in films for nudity.

“I want nobody doing that on-screen. In movies, there’s no place for it. I’m the last guy you’ll cast in some big passionate clinch kind of thing.”

Scrubs actress Heather Locklear was a bit kinder with her words simply stating that she was personally too modest for such films and that her parents would not approve.

In an interview with W Magazine, Johnson opened up about Netflix’s The Lost Daughter and what it’s actually like to film scenes that require her to show her body. And despite the fact that the actress has plenty of experience in the field thanks to Fifty Shades, it hasn’t gotten easier for her.

“It’s difficult. Some days I don’t want to take my clothes off on set. Just because I look a certain way doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings. And my character, Nina, is almost uncomfortable with her appearance. She’s reached a point in her life where her beauty doesn’t match who she is.”

As for her time in the Fifty Shades trilogy Johnson stated that filming n*de scenes never gets easier. In an interview with Marie Claire, the actress revealed, “No. It’s never easy. It’s not casual and it’s not fun. It never got easy.” Well, there you have it. No matter how steamy or alluring the scenes might look on the screen, filming them is not even half as exciting.
