Long before it was announced that Hugh Jackman would be returning as Wolverine in Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool 3, fans were extremely curious about where the story was going to go. The first two films were iconic in every way, bringing about some of the most out-of-pocket and hilarious scenes from the entire franchise. While no one expected any less from the third film, they were still curious about the direction it would go in.

During a recent interview, Reynolds became quite candid about what he wanted to do before Jackman was on board. It would seem that several ideas were being thrown around, and it was interesting, to say the least.
Mephisto Almost Has His Big Moment
Mephisto has been rumored to appear in a Marvel project for years. With the speculations starting with WandaVision, fans have wanted him to finally make his MCU debut, and for good reason. The character was menacingly iconic in the comics and stirred up so much trouble that it left all of the protagonists in agony.

While fans were turning to other shows in the hope of the character’s entry, it would seem that his welcome almost came a lot sooner. During a recent interview with Collider, Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds revealed that in the early days of deciding the storyline of Deadpool 3, they played with a lot of different ideas.
One can only imagine how bizarre they were. However, they also mentioned that one of the villains that almost took on Cassandra Nova’s role in the film was Mephisto. It is safe to say that this addition would have made fans almost as happy as Hugh Jackman’s return.
Ryan Reynolds Wanted One Actor to Be a Part of Deadpool 3
While Mephisto’s entry in Deadpool 3 would have been iconic on its own, there was one other idea that Ryan Reynolds was playing with that did not end up panning out. During an interview with ScreenRant, the actor revealed that he desperately wanted to work with Jordan Peele when he was deciding what to do with the film.
I have one – he couldn’t do it, one of the first people that were offered a role we were trying to work with desperately was Jordan Peele.

Reynolds revealed that one of the first people to be offered a role in the film was Peele himself. But the actor was quite busy and rejected the opportunity. Reynolds revealed that he had always been a huge fan of Peele’s work and wanted to share the screen with him at some point in his career.
But we are such enormous fans of his, everything he does, I think he’s just one of the great underrated performers as well. Obviously, he’s busy building a gigantic empire as a director and creator, but he’s somebody that I still, to this day, would love to find some way to team up with. I don’t even care what he would play, but I would love to work with him.

Despite the success of the franchise and Deadpool being iconic in every way, Peele rejected the offer. However, Reynolds does not seem sour about it. The actor mentioned that he understood how busy Peele is, being an extremely successful director on top of his acting. He added that he did not care if it was not in Deadpool 3, he simply wanted to work with the other actor at some point in his career.
