Prior to the start of production on the series, it was rumored that Deborah Ann Woll will not be returning to reprise her role of Karen Page in Daredevil: Born Again. However, the rumors soon turned out to be true when she was attending ICCCon in Nashville, Tennessee, and during the Q&A session, she gave a disappointing update about her absence from the new series. “I don’t know—do they let us do that? Am I allowed to cross the streams. I feel like that would be very dangerous… Yea, there’s a few people who can do it, but I don’t know if I’m one of those lucky few. I don’t know about DC.”

However, Woll did not like to keep her fans in the dark and she was grateful for the time she had in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and felt “really special.”

“You know, this was so cool to be a part of [Daredevil], and I think it was such a unique little corner of the MCU that felt really special… I’m really happy with what I’ve had, and there is no plans for me so far on either side of the comic book universe, but I’m so grateful for the experience that I had.”

While Karen Page announced her absence from the new series, she was an integral part of the OG Netflix series, and fans would miss her character in the show. The question now is, how will the showrunners justify her absence from the show?

How Will Marvel Justify Karen Page’s Absence From The Show?

Deborah Ann Woll’s portrayal of Karen Page was praise-worthy, who showed different human elements such as vulnerability and grief, making her an authentic and relatable character. Thinking that the actress will not be in the series is disappointing, but Marvel could possibly have an explanation.

When Thanos snapped, half of Earth’s population was erased, the MCU could approach forward with this belief that would give a rational justification for the absence of Matt Murdock’s friends. The series would be set in the aftermath of the battle,  which perfectly fits the absence of some characters. Moreover, it would go well with the Daredevil timeline, as the original series ended in 2018, leaving Matt Murdock to live in a world without the woman he loved.
